But the first one in Neptune, Mobeus, already feels better than the first Europa track...The new vehicle Buran is hilarious. A mix between Koeniggswerth and Conqurer. Hefty, beefy. Drives like a nimble bathtub w\/ huge rocket boosters. Energy regen kinda stinks, though, but you can't have 'em all. (Looking at you, Sulha, the greased aluminum can rockets...)The soundtrack is ridonkulous. Makes the subwoofers very happy. Woof.. The good: It's a new set of tracks for a great game It's a new set of racers for a great gameThe whatever: You can almost run a full lap of one of the new tracks without touching the ground The new lighting introduced in the related update was hit-and-missThe bad: The music for the new tracks was a little underwhelming - purely orchestral track for a racing game? The new racers are not particularly interesting - it's basically Conqueror but with a slower charging Sulha boost (it's kinda\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665 The new tracks encourage skipping to a remarkable degree - this is just my personal opinion, but skips should be more rare You have to pay dineros for 5 tracks and a racing team, and they're likely to add more of these tiny DLCs in the same mannerIf this DLC included some future map packs or something, this would be a more green review, but i can't exactly say it's a must buy. The base game really is excellent enough to not need these, in my opinion, kinda mediocre tracks and racers.. To be honest: I really like the main game. Most of the tracks in the main game are at least good but most of the time even very good.And, there is this DLC...The maps are designed for "maximum" air-time which it self is ok BUT the map design for that is just horrible.Seriously: I never played maps in games of this style that are as bad as here. You are still in the last meters of an cornor and JUMP in the opposite direction. Good idea, yeah!And that's not all: there are still sometimes moving and sometimes stationair objects directly in your "flying" path. So, you got to fly to the small end of track and you have to evade the obstacles. Both together is almost impossible which results either in death by collision or death by not beeing able to hit the track.On the positive side: the soundtrack is good.. Zero Gravity when not touching the track, totally require new skill to get drifing around, oh watch out for asteroids, satellite, and props when you are travelling or you die. Basically,It's pod racing but the track is Rainbow Road on steriods. Edit: the verdict of this review has been changed from recommend to not recommend. This is because Space Exploration Pack is out and its tracks are outright better than Neptune's. Buy that one instead unless you want the ships.Neptune is decent but not great. The gimmick is that there is zero gravity, so when airborne you have to fly your ship like a plane and pitch up and down rather than letting gravity do its work. There is a great deal of freedom in when and where you would like to land, and parts of the tracks can be skipped entirely if you choose not to land. (There are boundaries to the levels though so you can't go too far off course) However it also means that the track builders are very lazy, as large portions of the tracks are empty space. Aesthetics wise I find this to be one of the more beautiful areas because of the planetary ring in the background and the red and blue lighting scheme.The other part of the DLC, the Buran team, is underwhelming. This team is an amalgamation of Conqueror and Asera, having good top speed, energy (but not as good as those 2 teams above) and durability, but bad acceleration and grip. In my opinion it just ends up being a worse version of Asera, since its bad grip means you will either hit the fence or have to break on turns, but it also has bad acceleration so you don't recover that speed quickly afterwards. Asera solves that problem by having the best energy, but Buran gives that up in favor of higher top speed, which doesn't matter anyway when Asera can boost. I also find their ship designs to be hideous, like if Redout were a movie or TV show the villain would definitely be using Buran (they are Chinese and Russian so stereotype dictates they be the bad guys anyway, but I digress), but that's just a personal opinion.But I think the maps are worth the asking price on its own, and can tentatively make a recommendation. (not any more) Space Exploration and Back to Earth are both better DLCs if you don't have them already (although they don't have new ships).
